To Sign up for games:
- Logon to the San Ramon Referee Administration web site
- Upon successful login, you will be redirected to the following page: SRSC Ref Administration
- On the Left Hand Navigation Panel select Request Games
- A list of available games will be displayed. Click on Center or AR for the games you wish to officiate. The games listed may be restricted based on your referee grade or age. If a game is missing and you feel qualified to-officiate it, contact the Referee Coordinator. Note: Competitive tournaments are not self-assigned. You need to contact the tournament’s referee assignor to sign up for tournament games.
Enter Game Reports: After you complete a game, you need to logon to the San Ramon Referee Administration
web site and enter a game report. This is done by all three officials, not just the Center.
Getting Paid: When you enter your game report, you must indicate whether you wish to be paid for that game. When you select yes, the game is added to a list of games awaiting payment. Twice a month (during the regular season), the Referee Coordinator generates a set of pay cards from this list and sends it to the Treasurer for payment.
You can view your list of games awaiting payment by clicking on View Pay Cards (under Referee on the left-hand navigation panel) and then clicking on Next PayCard. Pay Cards that have already been sent to the Treasurer can be viewed on the same page.
Your First Games
As a new referee, the best match to start with is a U12 Rec game. For these games there will be a full complement (3) referees and this will help you learn how to referee by observing your referee teammates. In general, girls games are less eventful than boys games so there are fewer calls to make, but you gain less experience because less happens.
As you gain experience and confidence, expand your game selection up or down in age and over to RecPlus. Remember to do both girls and boys games. Play and fouls are different between the genders (but they are learning from each other).
Remember, experience is gained as Center and AR independently, so officiate at both positions. The number of games officiated before advancing varies based on age and ability of the referee. First year referees should avoid doing competitive games.
For referees who are re-licensing, you should start a few levels below the last level you were doing when you stopped officiating.
Gradually work your way back up to the level you were at. Do this for both the Center and the AR position.
