U10 - U14 Rec Plus
Division 4 Rec Plus Program

Overview

The Rec Plus Program is an extension of the clubs recreational program. The players who participate in the Rec+ program come from the regular recreational program and there are no tryouts or player rankings associated with assigning players to the program. The Rec+ program was started to provide players a more intense soccer experience, with a higher level of commitment of both time and money than the regular recreational program, but with less of a commitment of time and other resources generally associated with Division 3 and above.

The highlights of the Rec Plus Program include: U10 and U12 age groups may opt to play Rec + (at the U14 age group, ONLY Rec+ is offered and assuming there are adequate volunteer coach sign ups, no U14 players will be turned away from playing Rec+ soccer), professional training sessions, about twice as many games than the regular recreational program, two tournaments with the Danville 'White Plus' teams, more travel (to Danville) and additional cost (currently $135) to cover the training and tournaments.

We pull coaches as we need them and those who register first will be pulled first.  No tryout or other criteria is used to determine team placement.  As with traditional Rec, Rec+ is dependent upon volunteer coaches and those who volunteer will be given priority in team placement for their child.

Players will not be held over from a prior seasons.  Rec+ coaches can request to work witn one specified assistant coach per team; a second assistant coach will be determined once teams are formed.  Rec+ games can be played on Saturday and/or Sunday with some weekday evenings under lit fields.  Rec + games are played in San Ramon and neighboring cities.  Rec+ parents are expected to volunteer to support one of three tournaments and fill a variety of team roles.
Contact vp.rec@sanramonsoccer.org for additional information.

Rec Plus Season
Rec+ season starts in July with games starting in August with games complete in mid-November.  Some teams will participate in a District 3 Rec+ tournament in the beginning of December. League games are run in Danville, Livermore, Dublin and San Ramon and are held on Saturdays and some Sundays with some weekday evenings on lit fields. The San Ramon/Danville programs hold two tournaments during the soccer season. The cost of the San Ramon/Danville and District 3 tournaments are included in the Rec+ program fees.

Registration
Early registration begins March 1. Click here to Register. Rec+ players are registered through the normal club registration process.  When registering for the Rec+ program, parents should select the "U10-U14 Rec Plus" option and follow the registration instructions. Any problems or questions related to registering for the Rec+ program should be directed to the club registrar. NOTE: Players are assigned to teams solely by registration date so sign up early.

Team Formation
It is the intent of the Rec+ program to accommodate all interested players; however, it is possible more players will be interested in playing Rec+ soccer than the program can support while permitting the club to maintaining a quality regular recreational program. Should this be the case, acceptance into the program and assignment to teams will be strictly on a first come, first-serve basis, based on a player's date of registration. The one exception is the players of Rec+ coaches who are automatically accepted into the program. Players not accepted into the program due to space limits will be assigned to a team in the regular recreation program. Coaches are not permitted to hold players over from one season to the next. Additionally, special request for team assignments will not be considered.

Rosters
Recreational players will be placed on teams as space permits by the end of July. Team rosters will be posted on SRS's website in August. If you have not heard from a coach by mid-August, please notify SRS at  info@sanramonsoccer.org for follow-up.
Practice will begin in August and the games begin the weekend prior to Labor Day. Practices are held during the week and the games played primarily on the weekends with some games during weekdays under lit fields. Game schedules will be posted by the mid August with most age groups playing for approximately ten weeks.

Coaching and Training
Coaches are selected by the SRS Age Group Coordinators from parent volunteers. Many of our volunteer coaches hold coaching licenses and many have a love for the game to teach players the basics. Volunteering to coach offers a rewarding opportunity to work with children and build their individual and team playing skills. All coaches, assistant coaches and team managers are required to register for the club. Click here to Register.

SRS provides support to volunteer coaches by sponsoring free training, coaching curriculum handouts, and free coaching clinics beginning in August. Additional training is available through CYSA and NSCAA coaching courses. The exclusive SRS Rec Instructor Program is unique in that it provides training for coaches from U7-U10 teams. Details are available at the annual Coaches Meeting held in July prior to the start of the training season in August.

Professional Training
The teams in the Rec+ program have access to a professional training for one hour every other week, for three months starting in August. The cost of the trainer is included in the Rec+ program fees.

Volunteer Roles
Parent volunteers support the program by taking roles as the coach, assistant coach, team manager, banner set-up, snack coordinator, field marshal and treasurer to name a few.   This level of activity can only happen with the involvement and dedication of large numbers of volunteers. Coaches, referees, and age group coordinators are always in short supply and only families who volunteer for those roles can be guaranteed placement in the Rec Program in 2010. Otherwise, acceptance in the program is subject to space availability. The number of teams and players placed is determined by the number of volunteer coaches in any given age group. Volunteer coaches are permitted to request two assistant coaches when registering. Every effort will be made to place the assistant on your team, however it is subject to coach availability.
