Ivan, a native of Croatia, comes to SRS from Walnut Creek Soccer Club where he has been coaching for the past 4 years and is excited to start working towards the betterment of the San Ramon Soccer Club. Ivan has also been involved in coaching Holy Names University men’s soccer team, where he also played during his collegiate career. Currently, he holds the position of Associate Head Men’s Soccer Coach at the institution and is the director for region III-IV in Norcal’s Player Development Program.

He is an alumni of Graduate School of Kinesiology from Saint Mary’s College of California, where he obtained his master’s degree in Sport Science. He holds the USSF A coaching license and is working towards obtaining his UEFA A license with the Croatian Football Federation. Ivan also had the privilege to learn from European world-class clinicians and observe the operations of several professional clubs across the world (such as ACF Fiorentina, Dinamo Zagreb, CEFAR Barcelona, Estudiantes La Plata, Olimpija Ljubljanja), and is looking forward to bringing this knowledge to the community in San Ramon.

Ivan brings with him his passion for the game and scientific background and will be implementing a curriculum based on recommendations from US Soccer and the Long-Term Athlete Development Model, which looks at an athlete from a holistic perspective. Beyond igniting and spurring the passion for the game in each player, the focus of the club will be human and player development. Viewing the sport as a micro-cosmos of life, transferring valuable life lessons and skills to our play will be a part of our striving (passion, organization, discipline, developing social skills such as friendship, leadership, etc). On the field, our players will be expected to share the love for movement, the ball and the game, which will lead to an attacking-oriented, possession-based style of soccer. Should be fun to watch in years to come.

He is excited for the opportunity to work with the San Ramon community in achieving these goals on and off the field.
