Over the December 10th and 11th weekend the Azuri ’98 Bronze team competed in the very competitive Juventus Coppa d Oro tournament in Redwood City. The team won a back and forth game against Sonoma Alliance by a score of 1-0. In the second game the boys earned a draw with Belmont United 1-1. In the final group play game played Sunday the boys played a strong PAC Newells team; who won their previous two matches. This was a difficult match for the Azuri that ended with a 2-1 loss. Ending group play with a 1-1-1 record was enough to put us into the Consolation match against Castro Valley. It was clear that our group was far more competitive than the other bracket with both the PAC Newells winning their championship game 4-0 and the Azuri totally dominating the Consolation game winning 6-0. The boys played strong throughout the tournament and really were the second best team in the age group.
